Welcome to one of the most pristine and undiscovered areas of the Old South.  The Salkehatchie region of South Carolina is defined by the five counties: Barnwell, Allendale, Bamberg, Hampton, and Colleton.  The Salkehatchie River runs or borders each. We are only 30-90 minutes from Charleston, Savannah, Augusta, and Hilton Head.  (see map directions).    (Map

Kayaking down the Salkehatchie.
 Getting ready to ride horses.
Here you can participate in a world of outdoor activities including paddling on the largest black water river in the United States. You can stretch out your elbows, get out in the country, and enjoy solitude or hunting during the longest deer season in the Southeast. Enjoy riding on the largest privately owned tract of horse trails in South Carolina
Here the air is truly fresh.  There are more trees than people, and nature is at its peak of undisturbed glory.  Our folks in our small towns are known for their friendly disposition, hospitality, and eagerness to meet new friends.

Our little part of South Carolina is best defined as being a rural area, rich in history, nature, and natural resources along with sincere and caring people.   Here you can visit for a day, week, or month, being completely at ease, stepping back to the past, and experiencing  life in a "no hurry, no worry"  state of mind.

So take a look through this site.  If you like the great out-of-doors, you will find exactly what you are looking for, and if not, the folks through our links will design it for you.  Have fun!
